TROLL ATTACK: Hello all of you! I just wanted to update you on all that has been going on. I have been READING for a change! Silly, as it was something I enjoyed so much and what made me become a writer. However, with being an Indie writer and doing all on my own it left little time for pleasure reading -only research
reading.
I was recently a victim of troll on my Goodreads site and have been occupied with that in managing damage control. The life of a writer! lol! It is all good now for the trolls have learned that I do not take easy to being a victim. Not at all! It is one thing to write a negative review, authors get those. However, we also would like to know why and to have a creative dialogue with our readers. The bullies have gone too far in bashing random authors-mostly Indie authors to the point where many have left the site and have been broken down from writing. To me, that has gone too far. When the bullies travel in packs and break down another person-writer or not-it is just horrendous. Moreover, this, I am taking a stand against. Writers should not be attacked for responding, that should be encouraged. Reading should be a positive experience.
Through all of this, I have been following a wonderful blog bringing to light how serious this situation has become in the online community. Here is a link for that blog if you would like to see what is going on. I applaud such people who are brave enough to take a stand against such abuse that is now run amuck online. It seems to be the beginning of an online war. My hope through all of this is for the positive experience to be brought back to reading. To a place where the writer, reader, and reviewer can constructively work together
and to have a positive and encouraging experience and dialogue. http://www.stopthegrbullies.com/ With all that has been going on with this new online experience, I have decided to look after other writer victims
of the attacks and to encourage them NOT to give up. I have been ordering their books that were viciously attacked and plan on giving them a REAL and positive review as they deserve. Not those one-star attack reviews riddled with profanities that have cropped up in attack-but a real honest and heartfelt constructive one to open up a positive dialogue with the author review. I was raised to treat others, as you would want them to treat
you. Apparently, they never got the message! Therefore, I am happily reading to HELP as I am able. It is a nice respite for a change. Do not worry; my other books are well underway!
Update: Now the trolls are stalkers as they found my latest book and posted it up with a scathing review. How silly and very persistent of them! lol! I purposely kept it from that site due to the shenanigans that are now rampant. I actually researched one of the main trolls (as it is truly annoying in their stalking behavior) and will post that all soon. She is notorious for attacking Indie authors and has left many an ego-filled and crushing review to those unfortunate authors who made it on her radar. From looking at this particular author's own books-she should be spending more time on her own writing, rather than on that of other authors. Wow, the ego on some people out there. Readers beware of the many false reviews out there. Judge for yourself. Obviously if there are a lot of one star reviews and many, many comments to that poor author-that have nothing to do with the book reviewed-judge for yourself, please. Reading should be a pleasant experience and the aggressions towards people should be banned. The more we tolerate such behavior, the more it will ruin the book industry and our love of reading.
And if you are an author, or reviewer and you have been the victim of a troll attack-say nothing and move on. Hopefully as more people are becoming aware of this issue-their power will be lessened and the world will move on :)
